Trumpers Are Scared People

Trumpers Are Scared People

Hello Everybody. I have something to say not about Trumpers but to Trumpers. And  Trumpers would be the almost 50 percent of Americans, who incredibly support Donald Trump no matter what he does. And it includes just about every Republican in Congress who do everything they can to protect Trump and keep him in office.

What the hell is  wrong with you people? Do you read? Do you listen? Do you think, really think?  I truly don’t get it. How in the world can you support the president, who is crude, rude, corrupt, lying, vindictive, semi-literate and demented? What would he have to do to lose your loyalty?  Kill somebody? You’d probably say he or she had it coming. And Trump believes he could get away with murder. He said as much himself. Trump Is already trying to kill our democracy, and he’s killed America’s image around the world and killed whatever unity we may have had as a country.

I’ve heard some of you interviewed. Oh, he’s improved the economy. He understands how I feel. He’s not an elite, professional politician. He’s keeping illegals out of the country. But I don’t hear any of you say you support him because he’s a racist, or because he’s a misogynist. You won’t say that. You’re scared. You don’t  want  white people over run by black and brown people and uppity women in charge. That’s why you support Trump.

But tell me this. Is Donald Trump so great that you would want one of your children to grow up and be just like him? Think about it.  A child just like Donald Trump.

Until next time.

Trump’s Gotta Go, Gotta Go

Trump’s Gotta Go, Gotta Go

Hello Everybody. I have something to say about our impeachable President.

He’s gotta go, folks; he’s gotta go. For three years Trump has been traipsing around the United States and all over the world doing and saying what he damned well pleased. And he’s wandering around the White House watching TV and trying to govern by Twitter. I don’t need to go through the litany of things he has done wrong, like being crude, corrupt and nasty.

But now he’s been gotten. He’s been stopped in his tracks.  An intelligence official has blown the whistle, reporting to Congress that Trump abused his power as president and that there is proof. The House of Representatives is now moving full speed ahead and Donald Trump is on a fast track toward impeachment.

But I don’t think he should wait for impeachment. (I believe he will be impeached if it gets that far.)  I have another suggestion. Donald Trump should resign.

If he just removed himself from office, it would save the government the money it will take for the House to investigate and for the Senate to put him on trial. It would save the public from going through the agony of having Washington focused on Trump instead of focused on “we the people.” Mr. Trump is a bad man. It’s time now for him to “Get Out.”

That’s it.

Fear and Loathing in America

Fear and Loathing in America

Hello Everybody.  I have something to say about “fear and loathing,” in all of America. The 255 mass shootings so far this year have freaked us out. The white nationalist expressions of racial hatred and anti-Semitism have made us afraid to go work, shopping, church, school, movies and doing things outdoors. We don’t feel safe anywhere.  And to make things even more scary is the fact that most Americans have no confidence that the government will take the actions or pass the laws that would calm our fears and keep us safe.

The most visible of fear was the video taken in Times Square when a motorcycle back-fired and hundreds of tourists ran for their lives because they thought somebody was shooting a gun at them.

When Trump gave his inaugural address, he spoke of “American carnage.” That struck me. It was an odd description. Now I wonder if he were talking about the past or predicting the future? Because we are definitely seeing the carnage.

President Franklin Delano Roosevelt told Americans when we entered World War Two, that the only thing they had to fear, was fear itself. With apologies to FDR…today we have to fear young white men with tiny little brains and great big guns.

Until next time.

Trump’s Racist Tweets Go Too Far

Trump’s Racist Tweets Go Too Far

Hello Everybody.  I have something to say about Donald Trump’s racist, malicious, and hurtful tweets about black Congressman Elijah Cummings and Baltimore.

Trump has the audacity to demean my people, and brown people living in American cities. He says they are crime, rat and cockroach-infested. He suggests the people are to blame. Really, Donald? Really? How about neglect, poverty, no jobs, redlining and the lack of public services? I think so.

I watched the respected Victor Blackwell, a CNN anchorman, fight back the tears as he expressed his anger at Trump for calling Baltimore, the city in which he was born and bred, a “disgusting…mess”…”filthy and dangerous” and of course, “rodent-infested.” I suppose he’d say the same about my old neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago.

There are 37 million African Americans in this country. Thirty-seven million. It seems Donald Trump has only been exposed to black athletes and rappers. Oh yes, and his Uncle Tom Cabinet Secretary Ben Carson.  Has Trump ever had contact with working class and middle class black and brown people?  The vast majority who work hard every day to survive and who strive for the same things white people want: a good job, a nice home, good schools for their kids, and the pursuit of some happiness. Has Trump seen them? No, he hasn’t seen them. He doesn’t want to see them. Easier to paint us all with a wide brush of criminal activity, low I.Q.’s and dirt.

I have nightmares. You know what I think Trump is up to—and it scares me to say this—but I think he would like to begin the eradication of black and brown people from America. His Twitter campaign and his rallies have been building hatred and distrust. His master plan includes denying Muslims entry into the country.

But his main attention is focused on South of the Border. He’s barred immigrants from Mexico and Central America. His administration has made those brown people seeking asylum, “untouchables” by forcing them into inhumane conditions. And by God he’s going to wall them off. And the cities, which he ignores other than to denigrate them, will be left to black people, who will only be able to find refuge in crime-infested ghettos.

It makes me so mad. Nobody in this country seems to have the will, the desire or the courage to stop Trump from tearing the country apart. What are you doing?

Impeach Trump Now

Impeach Trump Now

Hello Everybody.  I have something to say about impeachment. It is time.

Ever since he was elected president, Donald Trump has boasted that he is making America Great Again. Well, if you haven’t noticed—and I have noticed– he has made America great for some people, rich people.  But for ordinary Americans, not so much. This “president” took our nation’s core values of equality, justice and freedom and shredded them, letting them fall where they may.

So why hasn’t Congress begun impeachment hearings to get him out of office? The Mueller report didn’t exonerate him from the impeachable offense of obstruction of justice. What else does he have to do? He’s played footsie with dictators, taken us to the brink of war, used racist comments and even been accused of rape. He said himself that if he shot somebody, he would not lose any voters. What does he have to do?

In the House of Representatives only 80 Democrats out of 235 support impeachment. Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, is one of the wisest old women there is, but she doesn’t support impeachment.

If the holdup is about the 2020 Elections and the future of the Democratic Party, then that would be a shame. The Congress would not be serving We the People but serving themselves and their elections. Nancy, say it ain’t so and get on with it. The longer Trump remains in office the more havoc he will wreak on our democracy.

See you next time.

4th of July, Hijacked

4th of July, Hijacked

NOT HIS 4TH OF JULY.  IT’S OURS!

Why does Donald Trump have to go and change everything?  Now he wants to change the Fourth of July celebration that has been held on the Washington Mall exciting millions of Americans for the past 50 years. It’s been going along just fine.

But back in February, Trump posted this tweet: “Hold the date on July Fourth for a major fireworks display, entertainment and an address by your favorite president. Me.” Ewww….. The 4th of July is not his. It’s ours.

I lived in D.C. for more than 30 years and it was a tradition in our family to cookout in the afternoon and then head down to the Washington Monument, and join the huge crowd of people to watch the fireworks. There were Americans of every color, nationality, ethnicity and religion. It was a unifying event.

But Donald Trump is commandeering the celebration and politicizing it. He envisions himself as the star of his new, “Salute to America” event. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned it into one of his campaign rallies, busing his supporters in, to pay homage to him.

Trump plans to speak on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I can’t even imagine his standing where Martin Luther King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech. Dr King tried to unify Americans.  I’m afraid Trump will further divide us.

Happy Fourth.

Fake News

Fake News

I have something to say about Fake News. I’m sick of hearing “fake news.” The term suggests that what you read and watch in the mainstream media is just made up by journalists. And by mainstream media I mean the long-established newspapers and television networks, like the New York Times, NBC and CNN.

Donald Trump started this fake news drumbeat when news stories were critical of him–his behavior, his policies, and his character. He is trying to make the American people believe that the great news organizations are just making up stuff and you can’t trust ‘em.

Journalists are reporting the hell out of the Trump presidency to inform, you the people, but Trump calls reporters the enemy of the people. Attacking journalists is one of the first tactics used by autocrats to solidify their supreme power. Is that what you want?

The Mueller report said in essence that Trump was the biggest purveyor of fake news using his tweets to lie and mislead the American people. We don’t have division in this country because of fake news, but because we have a fake president.

Not Enough Adjectives

Not Enough Adjectives

Hello Everybody:

I have something to say about adjectives.  Adjectives about Donald Trump. You know what adjectives are…the part of speech that describes a person or a thing.

Adjectives can be positive, like an honest politician. Or they can be negative, like a shithole country, or nasty Meghan Markle. Those negative adjectives were used by Trump. He’s always calling people names: Crooked Hillary…creepy, sleepy Joe Biden. As for himself, he says he’s a stable genius.

Now this man is testing our English. His critics have nearly run out of negative adjectives for his behavior and policies. He has been called everything but a “son of God.” They have been bad adjectives.

You know we may have to go to another language and borrow some. Like Spanish: presidente muy malo, or French, mauvais president; or Russian? plockhoy prezident.

Isn’t it a shame that this is the first President in U.S. history that is so bizarre he is even challenging the English language.

Until next time.
